"JOINCIRCLES enables you to own your own medical data. After buying an advanced biochemistry test here, we’ll send your test kit out the next working day. When your kit arrives, do the test and call our courier to collect – follow the simple instructions in the kit. The lab will take around 21 working days to analyse your sample from the time they receive your sample. When your results are ready, I'll email them directly to you. To get the full value from your results, we highly recommend that you contact a healthcare practitioner from our ‘Practitioner Circle’ to take you through your results. This will help you understand how and where to focus your efforts. They may suggest additional relevant blood, blood spot and urine biochemistry tests that you can do going forward, to measure and track your risks and potentials. After your consult, you could book a wellness coaching appointment with Margie to get you started and keep you on track. Once you have your biochemistry results, you can start shopping for your personalised nutrition, environment and lifestyle choices on This is how you start on your journey towards optimal wellness! Please contact me if you need help choosing the right test and/or practitioner for your needs". Dr Heidi |

Our Phthalates & Parabens test can help identify your everyday exposures to these toxins from the use of items such as body care products and plastic food containers.

Establishing whether you have toxic levels of any of the analytes in this test can be a "first step" to help you get on the road to optimal wellness. If you do have parabens and phthalates toxicity, this test is a useful tool in designing your treatment plan.

More info

Phthalates, also called "plasticisers", are found in numerous everyday products, including children's toys, cosmetics, cleaning products, air fresheners, perfumes, furniture, vinyl flooring, plastic food containers, and many medical products.

Parabens are used as preservatives to prevent the growth of bacteria and fungi in personal care products, including shampoo and conditioners, soaps, makeup, lotions and creams, shaving gels, hair gel, and prepackaged foods.

Phthalates and parabens endocrine disruptors known as 'xenoestrogens' – ‘xeno’ means ‘foreign’ or ‘from the outside’. Endocrine disruptors are chemicals that mimic our own hormones, in particular, estrogen.

Xenoestrogens weakly bind to estrogen receptors and block our thyroid hormone action, and negatively affect our endocrine, nervous and immune systems.

Why test for parabens & phthalates?

Exposure to phthalates and parabens is more common than you may realize.

Toxicity often lies at the root of many lifestyle-related chronic illnesses. Endocrine disruptors may play a role in hormonal and neurological development disorders, obesity, thyroid disruption, adult onset diabetes, and various cancers.

Babies in the womb, babies and children are most susceptible to hormonal and neurological development issues from exposure. Xenoestrogens can affect the development of their tiny reproductive organs and neurological systems even while in the womb.

A mother's body uses breast milk, like sweat, to excretes many of her body’s toxins. A baby’s early exposure to endocrine disruption can lay the foundation for various lifestyle-related chronic diseases later in life. This test is a great option for women thinking of falling pregnant.

Awareness of your parabens and phthalates toxicity can help you plan treatment before it contributes to the development of a lifestyle-related chronic disease.

Stopping the source of the endocrine disruptors and regularly detoxifying your bodying is another key step in achieving optimal wellness.

    Sources of exposure

Phthalates, also called "plasticizers", are found in numerous everyday products such as:

    • Children's toys
    • Cosmetics
    • Cleaning products

Di-(2–ethylhexyl) phthalate ester (DEHP) is a common additive to Polyvinyl Chloride (PVC). This additive helps make PVC soft and pliable to be moulded into eye–pleasing shapes. PVC products are marked with the plastic identification code 3. The analytes measured in this profile are metabolites of DEHP. In perfumes and air fresheners, phthalates are often listed as "fragrance".

    Our comments

"Phthalates & parabens are in so many household and body care products today. These ingredients can cause endocrine disruption, DNA mutation, and act as xenoestrogens. In our 20's, both of us worked for a top cosmetic company as our student job. They gave us an allowance to buy their products as part of our salary so that we properly represented the company. We covered ourselves from top to toe in these and other products daily. Our toxic burden must've been extreme but how would we have known - even if this test was available, we would've had no idea of where to find it. That's why we wanted to share it with you on our site.

Cancer prevention starts with toxicity awareness and tiny positive changes. We need to read every label and swap all products containing these ingredients for non-toxic versions. This test helps determine your body's toxicity levels and whether urgent detoxification is necessary".
