"JOINCIRCLES enables you to own your medical data. After buying a DNA test here, we’ll send out your DNA kit on the next working day. When your kit arrives, swab the inside of your cheek and call our courier to collect – follow the simple instructions in the kit. The lab will take around 14 working days to analyse your DNA, from the time they receive your DNA sample. When your results are ready, I'll email them directly to you. To get the full value from your results, we highly recommend that you contact a healthcare practitioner from our ‘Practitioner Circle’ to take you through your results. This will help you understand how and where to focus your efforts. They will also suggest the most relevant blood, blood spot and urine biochemistry tests that you can do going forward, to measure and track your risks and potentials based on your unique genetic variations. After your consult, you could book a wellness coaching appointment with Margie to get you started and keep you on track. Once you have your DNA, you can start shopping personalised nutrition, environment and lifestyle choices on JOINCIRCLES.com. This is how you start on your journey towards optimal wellness! Please contact me if you need help choosing the right test and/or practitioner for your needs". Dr Heidi | drheidi@joincircles.com

Benefits

We provide personalised result narrative along with nutrition and lifestyle advice to help restore thyroid function.

Who should do this DNA test

If you have health issues in the following functional areas, then doing this DNA test will help you determine the possible underlying genetic causes: 1. Energy release and metabolism  2. Growth and development 3. Bone growth 4. Body temperature 5. Muscle contraction 6. Digestion and 'lazy GUT'

The following signs could be attributed to thyroid dysfunction:

  1. Hair loss and skin problems
  2. A sudden change in body weight. One of the most typical signs of thyroid problems is a sudden change in weight. If you begin gaining weight rapidly without any change in your food intake, lifestyle or stress levels, you may be suffering from hypothyroidism. On the other hand, rapid weight loss with no change in quality/quantity of food consumption reflects a strong likelihood of hyperthyroidism.
  3. Unpredictable bowel movements
  4. Swelling of the neck
  5. Menstrual problems. Some women who develop thyroid problems also report changes in their menstrual patterns. Hypothyroidism is associated with increased blood flow and longer cycles, while hyperthyroidism is linked to reduced blood flow and shorter cycles. A lot of women, though, do not see a significant alteration in menstrual patterns. Since a lot of other conditions may cause menstrual changes, other warning signs are perhaps more telling.
  6. Depression and anxiety. Mood disturbances are common in those suffering from thyroid dysfunction. With hypothyroidism, serotonin levels in the brain tend to decrease, leading to lethargy and depression. Hypothyroidism, on the other hand, makes the body work overtime, leaving you prone to anxiety, restlessness and excess energy. Watch out for these changes in your mood.
  7. Decreased sex drive. Thyroid issues may also be responsible for decreased sex drive. With changes in metabolism and other bodily functions, reproductive organs and adrenaline glands may become lazy and insufficiently responsive to stimuli. This may cause an individual to lose interest in sexual activity. With treatment underway, however, one’s sex drive may return to normal.
  8. Changes in sleep patterns. Thyroid patients are also victims of altered sleep patterns. Those suffering from hypothyroidism tend to be sluggish and sleepy despite adequate rest. Those with hyperthyroidism find themselves alert and sleepless at rest time. Such signs are quite important, for they determine one’s functionality and productivity levels through the course of the day.
