ADRB2

This gene is involved in the mobilisation of fat from fat cells for energy, in response to catecholamines (hormones produced by the adrenal glands, which sit on top of the kidneys). Dopamine, epinephrine (adrenaline), and norepinephrine are the main catecholamines produced in your body. ADRB2 SNPs have been implicated in an individual’s susceptibility to obesity and weight loss resistance. In addition, the downregulation of this gene is associated with nocturnal asthma and glucose intolerance.

The G-allele results in ADRB2 being downregulated. This means that you would benefit less from increased physical activity to reduce weight. You may have a greater likelihood of weight loss resistance, and rebound weight gain and/or have associated body fat mass and waist-to-hip ratio.

To make it easier for you to personalise your choices based on your result, we've curated a small selection of nutrition, environment and lifestyle products that will provide this genetic pathway with optimal support.
